How much does a patio cover cost in Austin?
Most attached patio covers in the Austin area fall somewhere between the price of a nice vacation and a used car, depending on size, material and whether the roof ties into the house. Aluminum is usually the most affordable per square foot; wood and louvered systems cost more. We give a fixed written quote after measuring, and our cost guide has typical ranges.
Do I need a permit or HOA approval?
In the City of Austin and most surrounding cities, an attached patio cover needs a building permit and usually an engineer’s stamp. Most HOAs require architectural approval before construction. We handle all of it. Here’s how.
Aluminum or wood?
Aluminum stays cooler, needs no painting or sealing and won’t warp or attract termites. Wood offers a warmer look and can be stained to match your home. Many customers choose insulated aluminum roof panels with wood-look finishes. Full comparison here.
How long does it take?
Design and quote within days of your consultation. Permitting and HOA approval typically take a few weeks depending on the city and the association. Installation itself usually takes a few days once materials are on site.
Can you add fans, lights and screens?
Yes, and it’s much easier to do during the build than afterward. We coordinate the electrical for ceiling fans, lighting and outlets, and can add screens or glass now or later.
Is A1 licensed and insured?
Texas doesn’t issue a state license for this type of contractor; what protects you is insurance and permits. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation, and we pull the required permits on every attached structure. Certificates of insurance are available on request.
